About Laura
Getting to Know Me
I have worked with various populations as a marriage and family therapist trainee and an associate therapist. From working with older populations facing challenges of Alzheimer's and Dementia to working extensively with children and adolescents in both school-based and home-based settings, I have developed skills and assets that have prepared me to be calm, patient, and caring towards whom I work with. When I was in more intensive and crisis work, I found communicating with and working with other providers was necessary for the growth and well-being of my clients. I have also found that having the clients advocate and communicate their needs to their support systems and the more extensive system brings such confidence and self-esteem to them. In the school-based settings, I worked with the students who needed that supportive presence and listening ear to help them grow and reach their potential of graduating and getting passing grades. When working with the elderly and cognitively impaired clients, I have found value in being with them in their memory, wherever that time is. In my time with this population, patience, kindness, and empathy have never been so important to learn and practice.

In my clinical journey so far, I still have a ways to go. My passion for growth, understanding, and helping clients strive for their potential and meaning in life will always be in my mind to help me. My skills of patience, humility, kindness, calm, and being able to challenge my clients to grow and build their confidence will also be what I lean on and teach. Furthermore, my ability to be with and use play-based skills with children and even adults will help clients who are timid about therapy become vulnerable and open to therapy.
